• • • Plant & Tree Health

At A Cut Above Tree Preservation we believe that a healthy tree can fight off pests & disease, with minimal to no chemical treatments. When bringing trees into the urban environment they need more attention than trees in their natural environment.

The pH levels in the Salt Lake valley are usually in between 7.4 – 7.8, making our soils very alkaline. The water we use also has a high salinity content that makes using acidifiers expensive & not very effective. By pruning, fertilizing, mulching & proper irrigation we can promote tree and plant health and root growth to decrease the stresses that Urban trees face.

• • • Plan of action:

plant and tree health

There are other methods that we use to help the soil conditions to get back to acceptable pH levels. A Cut Above Tree Preservation suggests this line of action if conditions warrant a more aggressive plan of action (i.e. vertical mulching, trunk injections for Iron) for your tree health.

Why Hire an Arborist

Arborists specialize in the care of individual trees. They are knowledgeable about the needs of plants and tree health and are trained and equipped to provide proper care. Hiring an arborist is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Proper tree care is an investment that can lead to substantial returns. Well cared-for trees are attractive and can add considerable value to your property. Poorly maintained trees can be a significant liability. Pruning or removing trees, especially large trees, can be dangerous work. Tree work should be done only by those trained and equipped to work safely in trees.
